World Press Photo of the Year 2004
Arko Datta, Reuters photographer based in India, won the prestigious 2004 World Press Photo of the Year award on February 11, 2005. Arko's photo(below) shows an Indian woman mourning a relative killed in the tsunami in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, December 28, 2004.
"In a good picture you can hear the roar of nature and the silence of grief," jury chairman Diego Goldberg, an Argentine photographer, told a news conference to announce the winners.
